Church was fantastic this morning. We dove into Revelations 4 and 5. It was super interesting learning about some of the symbolism. My favorite thing was that John’s encounter with the beasts covered in eyes(cherubim) was very similar to the ones Ezekiel and Isaiah had.
What will it be like to continually praise God without ceasing? We won’t get bored or tired, we will just worship Him for the rest of eternity. My earthly mind has a hard time imagining all of that.
This afternoon, I hung out in the kitchen. I started my first loaf of sourdough bread, and I tried to make some ginger beer that is now fermenting on my countertop. The ginger beer was an assignment I had for my cheesemaking and fermentation class. It was a unique process. Here was the gist:
Make a ginger bug(starter). I made the ginger bug a few days ago by mixing up some water, grated ginger, sugar, and dry yeast.
The next day, the bug was ready, but I wasn’t ready, so I left it on the counter.
Two days later(aka yesterday) the bubbles had ceased so I threw a spoonful of sugar in to try to keep it going.
This morning I decided to add in a little extra yeast and more sugar in hopes of reviving it before I needed to add it to my ginger water.
I made the ginger water by boiling a quart of water with about a tbsp of grated ginger. I also added in 1/2 cup of honey.
I strained out the ginger pieces and poured the remaining liquid into a plastic container.
I ended up with about 1.5 cups of ginger water, so I added 1.5 cups of water.
I mixed in the ginger bug
It’s been sitting for close to 4 hours now, and it is bubbling, which is a fantastic sign!
I am making a full-length YouTube video about the whole journey. It should be ready within the next day or two.
Speaking of videos, here is the one I put out today about feeding my sourdough starter. If my bread turns out tomorrow, I will share some photos.
