Sorry to hear about all the headaches and discomfort. However since your Substack is full of interesting information, here's something you might like which I learned when I did pilot training - the Valsalva manoeuvre. Air pressure while flying at altitude is low, air pressure on the ground is high. So as you descend, pressure builds up in your ears, which can be very painful and mess with your hearing. So, during descent, you periodically equalise the pressure using the Valsalva manoeuvre. More info here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valsalva_maneuver
